Abbey's Of Yorkshire
He has held courses in the Lake District and on the Yorkshire Coast and still runs them monthly at Northorpe Hall, Mirfield, West Yorkshire. In 2007 he won the Old Masters award at the British Watercolour Society. In 2010 and again a year later he was selected to paint the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Associations Christmas card, and his work was included in 2 books on watercolour techniques.He has held successful one-man exhibitions and had his work displayed in many galleries around the country. Over the last 20 years, Richard has raised over £300,000 for Kirkwood Hospice. From April 2-19 he will have a selection of pictures in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries in London, and from April 14th – May 14th he has a one-man show at Ilkley Gallery to launch a new series of pictures of all the most famous Yorkshire abbeys. Later in the year he has exhibitions in Holmfirthand the Queen’s Hall Winter Gardens in Ilkley. Richard, a former PE teacher at Mirfield Free Grammar, was told at 16 he was colour blind, but it has never stopped him painting.

The original painting was presented in 1997 by Nelson Mandela to the Jamaicon National Library on his visit there, Where it hangs to this day.
This year Richard has added to his Charity card list with cards for St Albans and Truro Cathedrals, Windsor Castle, Carlisle Cerebral Palsy and the Royal Benevolent Institution.
After completing a series of Abbeys of Yorkshire scenes, Richard was then commissioned to paint a series of pictures related to Robin Hoods death on the Kirklees Estate Yorkshire. The workshop paintings have been seen by Mouseman workshop of Kilburn and at the moment a series of painting are being discussed.
